Access to European markets

The region has an extensive network of links with European markets.

For healthcare and life science organisations, Cels is building a network of collaborational links with a range of government departments, healthcare and bio-clusters across Europe. Regional support networks (such as HealthConnect) provide additional links into counterparts across Europe.

Cels represents the region and promotes it companies at major healthcare conference and exhibition events such as Medica and works closely with government  agencies (including DTI and UKTI) to obtain support for companies developing opportunities in European markets. Cels also works closely with One NorthEast, the regional development agency, to ensure that any organisation withing to relocate to North East England, or make an investment in the region, receives a full package of support and aftercare services.

The regional development agency, One NorthEast, providing specialist help for the development of EC-funded scientific research projects – using regional support groups such as Beta Technology to provide a free and confidential service to anyone with an ambitious and innovative idea. 

Other regional organisations such as the Regional Technology Centre (RTC) have contact networks to assist regional companies with business development, technology transfer, JVs, licensing and partnerships.
