Chris Ryan backs awards
Published Thursday 06 November, 2008
Geordie hero Chris Ryan has been confirmed as after dinner speaker at this yearâ??s Business for Life Awards on Thursday 4 December 2008.
The former SAS trooper and author, who is originally from Rowlands Gill, is most famous for being the only member of an eight-man team to escape from Iraq during the first Gulf War. His was the longest escape and evasion in the history of the SAS and he was duly awarded the Military Medal.
The Business for Life Awards celebrate the achievements of the North East’s thriving healthcare industry. Competition is tough this year with an increase in the number of healthcare firms nominating themselves.
Last year’s inaugural awards saw 300 representatives from companies across the North East attend to see the cream of the sector pick up an award.
This year’s categories include:
- Innovation Award, sponsored by NHS Innovations North
- Export Achievement Award, sponsored by the UK Trade and Investment
- Start-up Award, sponsored by Murgitroyd and Company
- Outstanding Growth Award, sponsored by Sintons Solicitors
- Partnership with the NHS Award, sponsored by the North East Strategic Health Authority
The winners are automatically entered into the Medilink UK National Awards, which recognises the UK’s most innovative healthcare companies. Three of last year’s regional winners tasted success at national level walking away with top honours in the categories.
Cels CEO Mike Asher is delighted Chris Ryan is guest speaker at this year’s event. He said: Chris agreeing to be our guest speaker is a major coup for the Business for Life Awards and demonstrates how much the event has grown in stature in the last twelve months. Chris’ story is remarkable and his involvement in this year’s awards will make the evening extra special as we recognise the vast achievements of the healthcare sector in the region.”
The booking deadline for tickets to the Awards is Wednesday 19th November. To book please visit www.celsatlife.com/awards.
