The market visit will visit Shanghai, Hangzhou and Xi'an, with the potential for financial assistance for eligible companies.

Shanghai will be hosting the Expo 2010 from May 1– October 31, 2010 and offers UK businesses the opportunity to reach 70 million visitors over the Expo period. The theme of the exposition will be "Better City – Better Life" and signifies Shanghai's new status in the 21st century as a major economic and cultural centre.

Hangzhou is located in the Yangtze River Delta and the capital of Zhejiang Province serviced by the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. With 6.52 million population, Hangzhou is one of the most renowned and prosperous cities of China. Its economy has rapidly developed since its opening up in 1992. It is an industrial city with many diverse sectors such as ICT, pharmaceuticals, environmental, computer games and textiles. It is also considered an important manufacturing base and logistics hub for coastal China.

Xi'an has rich natural resources; its main minerals include gold, iron, copper, graphite, marble, feldspar and quartz. It is the largest centre of science, technology, culture, sports, education, commerce, trade, finance, telecommunications, aviation and manufacturing in northwest China. Pharmaceutical production is the second largest industry of the city.
